The best riders from the region competed against each other today in the Restaurant 't Zusje Prize in both the 1.30m and 1.35m classes. Emiel Hulst, riding Owesome Girl GR, claimed victory in the 1.30m class on Friday. With a lightning-fast jump-off, he managed to stay ahead of Siebe Kramer and relegated Joep van Dijck to third place. “What I like most about this horse is her eagerness. She really wants to do it for you. I’ve been partnered with her for about a year and a half now and it’s getting better and better!” Although the 7-year-old mare entered the arena a little cautiously at first, that quickly changed. “She can sometimes be a bit spooky, that’s just part of her character, but after a few strides that usually disappears and we jumped a really nice round,” the rider from Drenthe said about his winning performance.
Siebe Kramer takes the win in the 1.35m Restaurant 't Zusje Prize
With the fences raised by five centimeters and after 34 combinations had taken their turn, it was South-Holland’s Siebe Kramer who took the win in the 1.35m class. The 8-year-old grey Lookalike has only been at Kramer’s stable for about a month and a half, but the pair immediately clicked. “Just before my round I saw Mansur ride his and I thought: wow, that’s really fast. But I stuck to my plan and managed to ride just a tiny bit quicker. We haven’t competed together very much yet, but it felt great and she really tried her best,” Kramer said about the mare, whom he currently competes for one of his clients. “She has an incredible work ethic. Plus, I hardly feel any tension from her in competition, even in such a big atmosphere - she just keeps going for it.” Second place in the class went to Pedro Mansur, who was narrowly faster than third-placed Sytse van Dellen.
